Do I need to bring a camera?

Generally, no, although we do have some hands-on tuition and practice evenings.

What camera equipment do I need?

Anything that captures and image! Your interest and enthusiasm for photography are more important than the camera.  You are the artist pressing the shutter, the camera is just a tool.

I take my photos on my smartphone, will I be welcome in the club?

Absolutely! Smartphones take fantastic images these days, and always having a phone with you means you’re always ready to capture that special moment.  Our Members Galleries page includes several images captured on smartphones. From the simplest smartphone to the most expensive Nikon, we cater for all levels, all abilities and all budgets.

I’d like to know how to edit my photos, can the club help?

Of course it can! Club members have a vast range of experience in editing (or post-processing). Lightroom and Photoshop are probably best known, but we have members using Affinity and Luminar too.  If you’ve never done any post-processing or need guidance on a particular feature, we’ll do our best to help you. If you just want to make your images ‘pop’ or crop to frame the subject, there are some clever smartphone apps available too.

I was bought a nice camera for Christmas, can the club show me how to use more of the features?

Yes, of course. This is a very common question! We all started somewhere. Technology gets more sophisticated but more affordable all the time. A modern camera can be daunting to begin with. We have members of all abilities and our aim is to make each of us a better photographer. A few simple guidelines can boost your confidence and accelerate your learning. Just ask!
