Competition Brief: Three of a Kind

1. Theme Overview

The theme “Three of a Kind” invites you to explore the power of the number three. Whether through literal subjects, repeating patterns, or a narrative told in three parts, we want to see how you interpret this classic concept. Your entry should demonstrate a clear connection between the three elements, either within a single frame or as a cohesive set.

2. Creative Directions

We encourage photographers to think beyond the obvious. Possible interpretations include:
Literal Trios: Three identical or near-identical objects, animals, or people (e.g., three birds on a wire, three matching vintage cars).
Abstract & Patterns: Focusing on repetition, textures, or shapes that occur in threes.
Conceptual Triads: Exploring symbolic “threes,” such as the three pillars of photography (light, subject, and composition) or three different states of matter (e.g., ice, water, steam).

3. Submission Requirements

Quantity: Each participant may submit up to three entries.
Format: Digital images must be in JPEG format and sRGB colour space.
Sizing: Recommended maximum of 1600 pixels on the horizontal side and 1200 pixels on vertical for web viewing; winners may be asked for high-resolution files (300dpi) for printing.
Editing: Adjustments are permitted, but AI-generated images or non-photographer owned (or taken) additions are not allowed.
Images shall be titled 01_ (image title) _ (photographer initials) for the first image, 02 for the second image, and 03 for the final image. Please no additional underscores as this really naffs up our software

4. Judging Criteria

Entries will be evaluated based on the following:
Interpretation of Theme: How clearly and creatively the “Three of a Kind” concept is represented.
Composition & Technique: Effective use of lighting, framing, and technical skill.
Impact: The ability of the image(s) to evoke an emotional response or tell a compelling story.

5. Timeline & Deadlines
